Read Across the Prairie is the GPISD initiative for the 2006-2007 school year.  All students and staff are encouraged to participate in reading for FUN! The GPISD Librarians are sponsoring many activities this year including:

  • signing pledge cards to read for FUN
  • wearing Read Across the Prairie dog tags
  • wearing Read Across the Prairie t-shirt.

At Zavala, our reading contests and programs come under the READ ACROSS the PRAIRIE banner.  Coming events include Children's Book Week...November 13-17.  Classes are encouraged to participate in "Flashlight Reading in the Library".  We will have a special visit from a real Panhandle cowboy, composer, musician, and children's book author, Rooster Morris.  He is scheduled to visit November 14th.
